Wake up at dawn. It was 5am and I have to get ready to take the train to Viterbo due to pick up the bike. The night was sleepless, too much excitement. I kept looking at the brochure with photos of the Multistrada V4 Rally and I still could not believe it: I would spend seven days travelling with her on the streets of the central Italy.
The weather was cloudy, and rain was expected in Viterbo, but this did not stop my enthusiasm.
I finally arrived to Quinzi Moto. I was welcomed by a very helpful and professional team.
After a briefing on the bike and a general check, I finally got on the road.
From the very first kilometres, a special feeling was created with her. The driving position was comfortable, especially for me, who is 185 cm tall. I was not a wind thread coming in, I was completely protected. After a few kilometers of curves, I arrived at the lake of Bolsena and there I enjoyed the landscape from fantasy story. I have never ridden many kilometers in enduro, but the bike made me feel immediately at ease.
It was really little time to get familiar, even in less-than-optimal weather conditions.
You forget the weight. Fantastic! The platforms were comfortable, the feeling with the front, the docile engine but ready… The crazy tank: thanks to its capacity you don’t have to stop every time to get gas. You enjoy the road, the curves… You feel like you can go anywhere.
I reached Orvieto, the Plateau of Leonessa, Tagliacozzo and the highlands of Arcinazzo. Then, in the dark, I headed towards Rome, always avoiding the highways.
Day 2
Sunday was a much better day, but cold. I went to the Roman castles, direction Frascati and then reach Campotosto.
When you go to Campotosto it is imperative to pass by the Passo delle Capannelle. It is a stretch of roadff; paradise for motorcyclists, with its scenic curves, perfect asphalt and a technical variety that goes from the fast bend to the closed hairpin passing through the narrow mix.
Despite its weight, the Multistrada V4 Rally is easy to drive, fun and manoeuvrable. Note not of little importance thanks to the heated handles and the seat and the windscreen I did not feel the cold. Compared to my bike, I felt a lot of difference.
The top of the pass was covered with snow: I had to pay attention, but with the Multistrada V4 Rally I did not have any difficulties. The lake of Campotosto was completely surrounded by fog.
It was cold, -1°C and the tires were affected by temperature and low stress due to slow speed. But with this bike every step was exciting.
I enjoyed the sun that was rising at times shy, and then I went back. The road to Teramo, which runs behind the mountains to the city, was very pleasant even if cold since always in the shade.
I reached Teramo, almost at night, and I started immediately towards Rome passing through L’Aquila, continuing to Antrodoco and then Rieti. This is the precise center of Italy. From there, I set off again on the Salaria towards Rome.
Day 3
The third day I dedicated to a more “”urban”” stretch. I wanted to take a tour of the Roman castles that always offer spectacular roads and views, with exciting curves and there was also a more comfortable climate: about 15°C with a beautiful bright sun. The dry asphalt and the temperature made me want to test the sporty soul of the V4 Ducati.
“”Wow! Wow! Wow!””… I kept repeating this every time I took a turn, braked and came out of it. A curve input like no naked or sport-tourer and a linear curve output. Between those curves you almost want to put your knee on the ground as you feel the harmony grow between you and the Multistrada V4 Rally.
I spent the day without getting too far from the capital, grinding kilometers between: Frascati, Velletri, Rocca di Papa, Albano, Castel Gandolfo, Palestrina, Genazzano, Lanuvio and many other towns.
What amazed me most was the fact that, despite the many kilometers traveled, I was not at all tired.
Day 4
I usually have no problem driving in the rain, but it was raining so much, and it was too much to drive. So I limited myself to small urban trips.
Day 5
Direction Siena. In the evening I decided to take a tour of Rome and stopped at Ponte Milvio where every Thursday night there is a large number of motorcyclists. The Multistrada V4 Rally has made its mark among supersports, naked and motard. Everyone noticed it and admired it. Evening between bikers. It is always good to spend time with people who have the same passion as you.
Day 6
Relaxing day, towards the sea along the road that passes through the pontine coast and then goes up to Sermoneta and Norma. The view of the Agro Pontino was wonderful.
Unfortunately, the next day I had to return the bike, even if I did not want.
Day 7
I left early for Manzi Moto. I crossed the area of Velletri towards Colleferro where I met a thick fog. The temperature had dropped to -3°C and the visibility was poor, I could barely see the cars in front of me. But the fog lights helped me a lot.
I decided at some point to take the highway and also here the bike has not disappointed me absolutely: air protection and comfort.
After leaving the motorway, I continued towards Caserta, Avellino and finally Salerno. The welcome was warm. All very nice… but I had to give the keys back. It was an extraordinary experience. A little dream that came true.

One of the best moments was to cross the Tuscan hills because they have something that makes them damn fascinating. Tuscany always enchants and there are sections where for 30 km you never keep the handlebar straight, many are the curves. A place that satisfies any biker.
The bike has covered over 60,000 km, yet it looks like it just left the dealership. Ducati shows us that today the Multistrada is a bike that, in addition to performance, brings reliability at the highest level.
