2650 kmDay 1: Madrid-Ávila-Segovia-Toledo
I got a call from Ducati offering me an opportunity that I couldn’t let go. I would leave my my Ducati Multistrada V4 Pikes Peak to take the Multistrada V4 Rally. Despite the intense cold, I decided to make a route through several cities named by UNESCO world heritage: Avila, Segovia, Toledo and Cuenca. In addition to enjoying the lands of Aragon, Barcelona, Girona and Lleida, province of our 8 times world champion Marc Márquez, I enjoyed the lands of El Quijote by La Mancha. I got lost in those of Eugenio Salvador Dalí in Cadaqués to finish at the Sagrada Familia of Antonio Gaudí in Barcelona. All avoiding highways and motorways.
In this first stage, I could appreciate the safety offered by the Ducati Multistrada V4 Rally in mountain passes through the Sierra de Guadarrama with -3°, wind, salt, fog and snow. The engine is powerful and smooth even under these delicate circumstances, as are the brakes. Everything fits perfectly to the worst conditions.
Definitely worth mentioning the driving aids, such as the adaptive front and rear radars, as well as the Hold Control on slopes.
Blind Spot Detection is a life saver that warns you of any approaching vehicle. It is a bike that gives and transmits safety, as well as offering numerous advantages.
The first day was very hard, picking up the Ducati in Madrid and touring Avila, Segovia and Toledo to end up sleeping in the famous mills of Don Quixote de la Mancha.
Day 2: Toledo-Ciudad Real-Cuenca-Valencia-Teruel
Unfortunately, I found a day with negative temperatures and thick fog. Yet, it is in the most difficult conditions that it’s perfection emerges. Also, it’s these forgotten roads that I like and enjoy. The V4 Rally is the ultimate bike.
Day 3: Teruel-Cervera-Lleida-Girona-Cadaqués
Also, for the third day, I found cold and ice. The regions of lower Aragon and Matarraña are a spectacle. I could not miss visiting Marc Márquez’s hometown. A dream to have him in the official team together with Francesco Bagnaia. The strongest team in history.
The V4 engine, both at medium and high speeds, never ceased to surprise me, even if I know it well. Also, first, second, third and so on: the quick change works precisely and fast, at high speed and even during a relaxed driving and in the city. The technology on this bike is amazing.
Kilometre after kilometre, I was more and more surprised by this bike, in any condition.
Arrived in Girona and Cadaqués, finally the sky opened and the sun came out. The roads of Cap de Creus were very challenging, but it was worth it thanks to the breathtaking landscapes of this Mediterranean jewel. I enjoyed the Sport riding mode as much as I could.
Day 4: Cadaqués-Pirineos-Lleida
Sunrise at Cap de Creus: I decide to drive along the wonderful N-260 Eje Transpirenaica, weather permitting. And despite the cold and snow, the road was in good condition, as well as the positive temperatures. The road was empty, the curves were good for medium and high speed and visibility was perfect. It was the day when I was able to test and exploit all the potential of the V4 Rally.
Riding the Multistrada V4 Rally, the Transpirenaica becomes an unforgettable experience for any motorcyclist. Powerful and safe. Agile in the corners, both in and out, with perfect trajectories.
Day 5: Lleida-Barcelona
I knew that the weather conditions would complicate everything, and so it did. Ice on railings, roads, roofs. As soon as I left the garage, the temperature dropped to -2°, and when I left it dropped to -4°.
The problem was that even the thick fog had turned to ice when it touched gloves, helmet, cupolin… was shocking. Everything around me was white.
It wasn’t the worst day I’ve ever had, but not even the best. With maximum attention to the asphalt
I finished the journey as I had begun, in terrible conditions. I also had to stop and, slowly, the sun has thawed the ice allowing me to see the agricultural area no longer white of Lleida, Solsona, Ponts and Montserrat.
I arrived in Barcelona and decided to visit from above (Tibidabo), then go down to the Sagrada Familia, the jewel of Antonio Gaudí.
Finally, I had to return the bike.
While I was riding the N-260 Eje Transpirenaica, thanks to the respite of the weather, I was able to take advantage of all the advantages and opportunities of the Multistrada V4 rally, and I had a lot of fun.
The Multistrada V4 Rally is definitely the best and safest bike for the worst conditions both weather and road level. If I had to choose a single word to describe this bike would definitely be “safety”. It was a journey of a few days but that will last a lifetime in my memory.
